In 1928, Pont-à-Mousson developed a range of economisers for its industrial processes, this activity was then outsourced into an organization called Eco-France and rapidly established as the national heat exchange specialist. This became an independent company in 1956, absorbed by Air Industrie in 1969.
In 1987, the Hamon group acquired the Company, which has since been called Air Industrie Thermique, to consolidate its cooling knowledge (hyperbolic cooling towers for EDF power plant) with heat transfer know-how (conduction and convection).
This unit then underwent significant development, accumulating thousands of references.
In 1996, Air Industrie Thermique absorbed Loréatt, an engineering organization specializing in radiation exchanges, reinforcing the company’s know-how in the field of gas temperatures up to 1500°C.
In 2003, by a partial transfer of assets, Air Industrie Thermique acquired the references, resources, know-how, analysis programs and drawings of the SCAM cooling business acquired by the Hamon group in 1992.
SCAM, created in the 1930s, and subsequently managed by Brown Bovery, developed in the field of heat exchangers for cooling machines and machine rooms.
Shareholder restructuring in 2004 gave Air Industrie Thermique the industrial and financial resources to pursue and reinforce its development.
In 2005 Air Industrie Thermique continued to develop, purchasing Comeco, a company specializing in design and production of heat exchangers, economizers and energy recovery boilers, and also expertise in industrial thermal processes.
In 2010 Brown Fintube France S.A. (BFFrance) joined the AIT Group. This company used to be a subsidiary of Brown Fintube Company (U.S.). The workshop in Thonon-les-Bains, France, design and manufacture Hairpin heat exchangers and Bayonet Vaporizers since 1965.
In June 2015, the STEIN ENERGY group, European leader of water tube and fire tube boilers and manufacturer of industrial boilers for all fuel types, became part of the AIT Group. STEIN ENERGY, whose head office and plant are in CERNAY (Alsace, France) has installed more than 7,000 boilers throughout the world.
This coherent and independent organization with all-round competence in gas-gas, gas-liquid and liquid-liquid exchanges, is now known as AIT-STEIN GROUP.
